My name is Greg DIckinson (hence agd -first name Alfred) and currently reside in Wilmington, NC. I am 50+ years along and bought my first real bike in 1975 (after graduation from college). After going on some club rides and joining the club, I was hooked. As it turned out, I became best friends with a local shop owner's son and we got into all kinds of trouble. Like we built a mountain bike before they were popular on the east coast and later a low slung racing tricycle. Later (hmm 1980s), I built a touring frame and after finishing it, my wife and I spent the summer touring from Roanoke, Va to northern Nova Scotia. This took all summer and needless to say was the highlite of our experience. From then to now it has been on and off as far as doing bike things. Last year I bought a Giant Halfway as a backup to my aging car and more recently put together a commuter from some leftover and salvaged parts. The same aging car died last weekend, so I do not currently have a car. I am now interested in a practical car replacement alternatives (like velomobiles, and series hybrid trikes) and am planning to build a true EVA if needed at some point. I am currently reading the 50+ and live car free forums and will start looking more at the recumbent and framebuilding forums. Thank you all for providing this area on the internet where we can read and share info and experiences.
