Nubie from Michigan

Hi
Glad I found you guys. I'm 51 years old and have been riding for 17 years (bought my Bridgstone road bike in April 1990, still got the receipt) Last year when I wore out a Trek Mountain bike that I converted to a comfort bike, I bought myself a Giant Cypress. I still ride the Bridgestone but I love the Giant. I live near Lake Huron in eastern Michigan and this is a very bicycle friendly community. They are in the process of building a 60 some mile bike path (about 40% done) here. I ride all year round if its warmer than about 35 with little wind.
Again, glad I found this forum

Hello Wayne, don't know if you've taken a look around, but you might enjoy the Classic & Vintage forum, and there's a 50+ forum if you'd be interested in that...also check into the regional forums.

Welcome to BF!

Hi Wayne,

Welcom to the forum. My Dad has a place in East Tawas right on Lake Huron. Is the bike path you are describing anywhere near him? Thanks.

Lance

Hi Lance
No I'm in Port Huron about 50 miles north of Detroit but its really nice country where your dad is.

the pdf map isn't the best but awsome riding. A spur of the trail is 2 miles form my house that is a 9 mile round trip for me around a nice man made lake. Perfect after work fitness ride.

Michigan has some great trails. We're currently the #1 rail trail state in the country. http://www.michigantrails.org is a great resource for anyone interested in Michigans trail system.
