Hi from Dalton, GA
Hi there, I'm not also new on this forum but in Mountain Biking as well. I find it very exciting and can't wait to share my experiences with you.
After riding my first week (Aprox. 60 miles) on the roads, I found out that mtn bikes are not quite for the road in terms of speed and comfort but I still like mtn bikes so I intend to keep mine ans yet keep riding on the streets. So I have a couple of questions
1. What type of tires should I use for the streets.
2. Can I attach aero bars to my straight handlebar even though I already have a front cateye light and a sigma computer. I mean is there enough room for these three items? Also my gearshifts are built in the handlebars.
Thanks in advance!

Hello TRIGGOSS, you can mount what are known as 'slicks' on your mountain bike. They're just big tyres but without mountain bike knobblies. Your LBS will know what to give you if you ask, and have your bike with you.
I don't know anything about aero bars, so I can't help you there.
There are quite a few members down in your area, including one of our moderators, RonH.
You might want to check out the Southeast regional forum.
Welcome to BF!

Hi TRIGGOSS and welcome to BF.
You probably won't have room for aerobars and a light. Besides aerobars on a mtn bike would look kind of .....
If you're on a tight budget, why not get a low end or used road bike? Road riding will be so much more enjoyable. And no one will make sarcastic remarks.

East Hill thanks for the tip. I will get new tires right away. As for getting a new road bike RonH, sounds great but right now it is not an option. But I will have definitely consider it in the future.
Thank you both for your input!

Check out the Classic & Vintage forum, honestly. There are people there who could probably help you find a good used bike in your area (via Craigslist), and it won't break your budget.
But we'd need to know approximately how tall you are...
