Yet another MI newbie poster...

Greetings & Salutations!

Though I post on other forums - notably MTBR & MMBA (and once in a while RBR and MCG) - I decided to add myself onto this community too. I've always heard of this forum, but never really got around to checking it out. So here I am.

Allow myself to introduce .... myself... hmmmm ...

Ride on!

So, Randy, are you saying that you're really into mountain bikes and that you live in Dearborn, MI? And not quite so into road bikes, but that you still live in Dearborn, MI ?

If you need any assistance in figuring out the more advanced features, not to mention the relatively kinder, gentler members here, just give me a shout!

Welcome to BF!

Nice one E-H!

But yes, I'm from Dbn... while I still am really into MTB, I have grown to appreciate other forms of cycling. Actually, my latest dabble into CX last fall has me into that recently. But my MTB'ing history is much longer...

Thanks for welcome!

I think that many people get a bit more into road cycling as they get older--it's not that we can't mountain bike, but it's good to spread that torture out over a couple of days, you know?

Where do you go mountain biking in Dearborn? I didn't think that there were that many mountains in MI. Actually, isn't the tallest mountain in Michigan actually a batch of iron tailings?

hehehehe

Agreed... as I've gotten older, road cycling has been a great way to get in miles without all the "extra-curriculars". Just walk out the door and hop on the bike.

MTB-ing in SE MI is definitely a little difficult. From Dbn, the nearest trail is 45 mins away - doesn't make for a nice quick trip. And with gas prices, making a 45 min drive usually won't be my first choice. But with trails like Potowatami in Dexter/Ann Arbor, Island Lake and Brighton State park in Brighton, and the few smaller trails nearer to Detroit, there's still plenty of MTB-ing to be had.

Besides, what's wrong with our 30ft climbs anyways!?

Yes, I'm lucky in that I've got a trail of doubletrack about 2 miles from home--nothing very exciting, but it gets muddy, got a few roots here and there, get to see deer!

You did notice my username, didn't you ?
