    Newbie from central Oregon coast

    Greetings all,
I have just purchased a Sun EZ-3 AX recumbent trike from my LBD here in Newport, Oregon. I have not yet been able to ride it as I am first making several modifications. I am 65 years old and had polio back in the early 1950s. I have used crutches for over 50 years but managed to remain fairly active, ie lots of hiking, canoeing and swimming (I swim 5 days a week, 2 miles/day at the local pool). I have had the left crank removed from my new EZ-3 and I am designing a foot rest for my (basically useless) left leg. I have had a Crank Bros. Eggbeater pedal installed on the right crank as I must be able to apply power 360 degrees with my right leg. I am also looking for a shorter crank to give me more torque as there are some very steep hills here in Newport. I am also attaching a plastic "milk" crate behind the seat so I can carry my crutches with me. Fortunately I discovered Bike Forums several months ago and have learned an incredible amount of cycling info from the various Forums. I hope to use the technical Forum to seek advice from other riders who are able to use only one leg when cycling. Cheers.

Hello Oneleg--I don't know how many, but I'll bet there's at least one other member in the same position as you. I think edp773 has protheses for both feet, although I don't know for sure...you're a tough guy, though .

Please check in with the rest of the PNWers in the regional forum, and say hello!

    Welcome to BF!
