Greetings from Toronto! Newbie arrives, yarrr!

Good Day All,

I am new to the Bike Forums. What has brought me here you might say? Well I have decided it's time to become a little more involved in the cycling community as it is slowly becoming a great passion for me. I have always been riding since I was kid but alway on mountain bikes. Longest ride is my 1996 Bianchi Ocelot. She is a mean green fighting machine and with upgrades of the years has served me well. I moved to Toronto two and a half years ago and the bike paths and trails here have fed me with cycle passion. So in turn of wanting to slowly transition to a road bike I decided to pick up a decent hybrid. Not to mention I ride in the spring - fall months to do my part on reducing green house gases. Enter my new 2006 Dew Deluxe. Good bike thus far and I might say I am a bit converted when it comes to disk breaks.

Well with all that said, tis my story. I hope to get to know this community and learn from the greats that exist within here. From what I have seen from the past while is a great deal of knowledgeable riders and people.

Lots and lots of members here from Toronto, including prolific poster chephy .

Venture over to the regional forums (Eastern Canada for you) and say hi!

The Ocelot's a nice bike. I have to confess I don't know much about the Dew, though .

Welcome to BF!

Ahhh yes thankyou! I did find the east section. My Bianchi has been great to me. Named her Bessie ages ago and she has always remained true and done her job well. But the time has come that her chromoly frame and chunky Mountain Bike parts are getting far to heavy to continue up and down all the inclines and declines I ride but she also is requiring to be tuned up far to frequently. So I have retired her for off road.

The Kona Dew is actually quite a decent bike http://www.konabikes.co.uk/2k6bikes/dew_dlx_2k6.php

The ride is smooth, I tried out the Trek 7.3fx but found it to be far to rigid and felt way to much. Made it very uncomfortable but it was slightly lighter and more designed for road. The Devinci Oslo was a beaut and rode oh so nice but also cost about $200 more than what I got the Kona Dew Deluxe for. I found the specialized sirrus to be even more road in design than the trek.

The Jamis Coda was nice but again cost more than I wanted to spend so all in all i am extremley happy with the Kona. I'm a bigger guy too. About 220 lbs and I am very hard on my bikes. I expect the Kona to last a very long time.

I'll get some pictures as soon as I get a chance.
