Thought I'd say Hi

Hey guys, I'm from Corpus Christi TX (though I still call SoCal home). I've been commuting by bike for almost 2 years now. About 300 miles a month on a beat up department store MTB which I used to take on the trails on my days off. I just saved up enough to buy a cheap road bike (IBEX Classic 4400) and have started doing little solo rides ('bout 40 miles each). I've also decided to retire the MTB and try and build myself a fixie for commuting next semester. Although I'm not new to cycling, I am new to the cycling community. I hope to gain knowledge from your wisdom and make some new friends. Take care y'all.

PS. Anyone know of any resources where I can find a cheap rear wheelset for my fixie project. And I mean CHEAP.

Hey there,
Welcome to the Bike Forums.
Seems to be the current trend, fixed gear biking. fixies, UGHH how I dis-like that terminology.
Go figure look at my handle
Anyway try https://www.shopzilla.com/8B--Bicycle...lsets__nwylf--

or even craigslists?
pretty straight forward stuff, you can even put a single gear freewheel on a regular road bike wheel as well. Unless you really want to go fixed. PLEEEZE find a nice grassy area to practice first.
Can not tell you howe many people I have seen launched over the handle bars when first riding and try to FREEWHEEL.

ENJOY ;0)
