    A HUN in GA

    Hello Everybody,
I'm glad to join your group and share my thoughts/concerns about cycling.
I live in North Georgia (Gainesville) and I enjoy riding in the mountains. I used to live in Blairsville and I still drive up to the mountains to ride the "Gaps" and the NC mountains which are unbeleivably beautiful. I love the rides around Franklin,NC (Walnut Creek,Ellijay Rd,etc.) and Murphy where my "nchillbilly" friend is living. My base used to be triathlons but I have bad knees and I have been in and out of the sport for years. I mostly ride now, sometimes in groups but mostly alone. We organize rides with friends all the time and I am very eager to share my thoughts and experience about different routes. I do several centuries a year but I have never raced on the road nor do I have the desire now as I like safety in general. I am neither slow nor super fast and I love to see the improvement of my climbing power (whenever I train regularly and my knees are acceptable). I used to do beginner mtn. bike races a couple of years ago and I placed 1. and 3. but never chased my abilities to a new level in that sport.Last year I made a trip to Italy and I was lucky to ride the Stelvio and Mortirolo passes and it was an unforgettable experience. We plan a trip to the Dolomites this year too and will do Monte Zoncolan and a couple of passes around the Marmolada (Passo Fedaia,P. Pordoi, maybe P. San Pellegrino and P. Gaiu). Any of you guys had an experince in doing these climbs ? I am married with two kids who also stay physically "very" active.
All the best, would love hearing from you, Lajos

Welcome to BikeForums and welcome to Gainesville. I've lived here most of my life. I am a recent returnee to bicycling, and am enjoying the heck out of it. I rode the 3 Gap (Neels Gap, Wolf Pen Gap, Woody Gap, back to Turner's Corner) the weekend before last. My family has a house in Franklin, NC, but I've not ridden a lot there. Wayah Bald is something I want to try, though.

PM me if you are interested in hooking up with some riding groups 'round here.

Hello Lajos, great introduction there, but you left out what kind of bike or bikes you've got!

I'll look forward to seeing your posts around the board.

    Welcome to BF!

    Sorry, you are right.
I ride a Cannondale Optimo bike with Ksyrium on the front an Rolf Vigor on the back. I have a front Hed Alps clincher wheel that I am a little afraid of now as it flatted 2 Tufo tub/clincher tires, one of them almost made me crash on a downhill. I also have a 5 year old Cannondale mtn. bike with Coda disc brakes, hardtail, rarely used lately. I use Garmin Edge 305 and I am on Motionbased as well.
    Thanks for reminding, Lajos
