New to the Forum.

Hi. Just joined today. I am just getting back into road cycling after a very long hiatus. I live in Northern California and will turn 50 this year.

Looking to get in better shape and improve my health.

Thanks!

JU

Welcome Johnny!

Thats the best place in the world to ride bikes

In case you didn't know, there are a ton of clubs in your area. Plenty of people on BF from your neck of the woods too.

And its such a pretty area. I'm jealous.

Hello JohnnyU, what part of Northern California in particular? Visit the Northern California regional forum and say hi to your neighbours.

What kind of bike are you riding?

Welcome to BF!

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome messages. I live in Sacramento. I agree that riding is pretty good here. We have an extensive paved trail that runs along the American River, not to mention lots of wide bike lanes and access to the foothills of the Sierras.

I own three bikes, a Marin commuter, an early 80's Medici steel frame road bike and a Ridley Excalibur full carbon road bike.

After marriage, travel with work and three kids I am trying to work my way back to what I used to do when I was single and had more time to do...ride all the time.

I lived in Michigan for 7 years in the mid 80's and rode quite a bit there. Michigander, maybe you and I have covered some of the same ground!

Again, thanks for the welcome.

Best,
JU

You are a candidate for the Classic & Vintage forum, my friend! Quite a few good souls in the SMF area. I hope to see the Medici in some photos when you have time...

Thanks East Hill!

I'll put some photos of the Medici up as soon as I can. Thanks for the tip on the C&V forum, I'll check it out.

Cheers,
JU

Excellent! Thank you very much . By the way, BlankCrows and a few others have some photos in the 'Where'd you ride today' sticky that show off the American River Trail (in C & V).

welcome aboard! Cheers to improving your health. That's actually one of my goals too, though I often forget that's why I'm doing it because cycling is just so much fun!
