Bonjour!
Hello. It was by accident that I came across this site buy I'm very glad I did. I'm 27 and currently living in Belgium. It took a while to get used to living here, given that I'm from California. My interest for cycling just about started 2 weeks ago when I saw this old bike at a second hand store. I wasn't too sure about buying it but it just looked different and it called to me. The 20 Euro price was also a determing factor for me buying it in the end. Thus, I wanted some info on this bike and by good luck I found this site. Here are some pics of the bike
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=299843 On my first ever ride in this bike I rode to what I believed to be the most appropriate first destination, given I'm in Belgium: A Brewery.:D Well, it looks like this "bug" has bitten me and I've been going to every local bike shop looking for parts for this bike and so far it's been good. So, again, thanks too all that have helped me so far and thanks in advance to all of you who will help me in the future. |
Welcome. You already found Classic and Vintage, so that is a good start. Also check out the mechanics forum for maintenance tips.

Finally I get some time to post some pics of the Ventoux. The brake calipers and levers are CLB. The crank is Shimano, but I don't know what model. Both derailluers are Simplex. The rear hub is a helico matic which I'm going to ride till it dies and then replace it with ********** I'm in the market for a new saddle, so if any one out there has one they want to sell; pm me. This bike is a rocket, which kind of scared me the first time I took it for a real ride. I did a minor tune up on it and re-wrapped the bars. Today I changed the brakes cables so they would match. The front brake cable was wrapped in athletic tape. Man do I like the way this bike feels.:D

Darn. I forgot to get the serial number to check what year this bike was made. Does anyone have an idea? I'll post the serial number tomorrow.

Bonjour et comment ca va?
Of is het beeter in 't Vlaams? Whereabouts are you in Belgium? From the 'Bonjour ' probably in the Walloon area or Bruxelles? Owned a couple new Peugeots back in the mid-70s, including a PX-10. Keep you eyes open for some old Flandria bikes, or other Belgian makes. They build some nice bikes back then. Enjoy your new-found hobby! |

East Hill But of Course! I'll post this at the C&V thread in a bit. I have some new bikes that I'm really excited about. Which will also be posted in C&V. I'm beginning to feel as if I were addicted to classic bikes; just like I'm crazy about classic cars (I own a 65' mustang and a 66' Chevy Malibu SS).:D |

Born and raised in West Flanders, in Brugge (Bruges) but left there just after World War II and lived primarily in the US since. Yes, am a 'senior', but still manage to get in at least 100 miles a week on tandem and single bike. M. Kint (Marcel?) the old racer from the 40s/50s?

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=317017 I'm pretty sure it refers to Marcel Kint, since it has Flag of Belgium on it's Headbadge and I got it here in Belgium. Please take a look and see if you can offer any info on it. Thanks! P.S Maybe you can share the names and locations some cool little bars in Brugge that the tourists don't know about.;) |

1988 302 engine that I was going to put in the Mustang. I guess, my newly found addiction for classic bikes is a way of me couping with not being able to work on my classic cars. |
