Well, I found the forum last night and thought I would register. Made the decision to commute on bike for work, play, everyday things and so forth at the beginning of the year. So I am leaving the suburbs in December of this year (Ya I know, that's when my lease is up though so...) and moving back into the city. I will be parking my car for the most part except for the occasional road trip or whatever. I will be riding a bike daily, Monday - Saturday for work, grocery store, light shopping in the shopping districts, and so forth and so on. Trying to ditch the car as much as possible.

My uncle passed away from lung cancer about 3 weeks ago, I quit smoking the day after and having smoked ONCE since, I got rid of the deep fryer, and the things that were meant to be fried in the kitchen and just gonna try and be more health conscience, I want to get in shape, tired of paying gas prices, bored of the suburbs, and want to try and be more environmentely conscious of what I do.

So, that's my intro and have a great day everyone.

Hello Bryan, sorry to hear about your uncle, but sometimes a tragedy like that is what it takes to jar one away from some of those bad habits we all pick up along the way.

You've got a big list of things to do, so we will do our best to help you out over some of those sure-to-happen sidetracks.

A lot of members here are from the BNA area--check out the regional forum for the Southeast to see who else is out there. I've been often enough to that area to know it looks like a great area for riding.

What kind of bike have you got, by the way?

Welcome to BF!

So you expect to travelling mostly in Nashville proper, no mountain biking for you?

I am intrigued by the idea of the built in coffee thermos (I'd be using it for tea, though ).

I might throw in some Starbucks :-), but I do light mountain biking as is. I have I think a 2002-2003 Giant Sedona. Pretty good bike too. Very new to bikes in general and want to get what I am going to be happy with. 100% open to suggestions. Guess I will make a thread for that later after some reading.

Welcome, I like the look of the SoHo myself. I'd probably dump the thermos pretty quick though.

I remember having a great time walking around in both those places--did some great birdwatching there at Percy Warner.
