Kirk Turtle says "Hey"

Been perusing the forums for a while.
I finally got around to registering.
God has blessed me with a great wife and two fantastic sons.
We live in a small town, pop 3300, in West Central Illinois. The area is sometimes cynically referred to by locals as "Forgotonia".
I work here as well as live here so communting is very easy. In fact, I often ride the bike home on my lunch hour.
I've never been a very serious rider, but am beginning to feel more and more compelled to spend more time in the saddle. I mean I enjoy it, and there are health benefits to consider as well. (I'm 38, and could be considered a Shetland Clydsdale. My Dad has had a miriad of physical problems, and I know some of them are related to being overweight, so I need to address my own weight or look forward to problems similar to his.)
Lessee...
Very active in Church and since my sons are involved, I've been a willing volunteer for the scouts.
I'm a long time fan of the Andy Griffith show, which of course means Malcom Merriwether is one of my heroes.

That's it. Hope to become familiar with everyone.

Welcome Kirk Turtle. I am 42 and have the same blessings, except I live in a suburb of Dallas, Texas and cannot ride to work.

Cycling has lowered my weight and blood pressure and helps me to keep sane.

Earnest T. Bass is my favorite.

Ernest T was in only 5 episodes, but they were doozies.
If he had a bike, maybe he wouldn't have had a desire to "hermittize" himself.

Thanks for the welcome

Welcome to the forums Kirk.

Commuting by bike is great, isn't it? I've been doing it for four years now....awesome break from the daily rush.

Hello Kirk Turtle, not only are you blessed with a great wife and two fantastic sons, but you've obviously got a wonderful sense of humour.

I hope you'll display more of that in the Commuting forum as we could always use some laughs over there .

Welcome to BF!
