Addicted already!

Hi!

I've been lurking for a couple months, and decided to introduce myself. I rode for miles as a kid, picked it up again with a cheapie a few years ago (biggest waste of money), got rid of it, and purchased a Specialized Hardrock Sport about a month ago--I know, small stuff to most of you out there, but I love it so far. I've been reading these forums, riding my bike, reading a bunch of articles, and I'm HOOKED! I'm already starting to think about buying a road bike now...

If anyone out there in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area is looking for someone to ride with, I'm game!

Hello aprilm, that's a good bike you've got, and should do you well. Check out the regional forums to find members near to you. Even people who've been lurking for months seem to not realise that there are regional forums...

Welcome to BF!

I'm a "young lady".

I've checked out the regional forums, and it looks like most members are from the Colorado area, but I'm sure there are at least a few Nebraska members.

Thanks!

Yes, those Coloradans really need their own region...but there's some Nebraskans for sure.

What kind of road bike are you looking at?

No clue! I'm pretty happy with my Specialized, so I might get another one, but I haven't even tried anything out yet. I'm almost tempted to skip my vacation this year (or maybe just go on a smaller one) and get a bike instead. We'll have to see about that!

I have a 2005 Specialized Dolce Elite, and I am pretty happy with that. It also has the world's most comfortable saddle (BG Dolce, the leather version).

Ahh, don't see many Omaha or Nebraska folks on here much.
Have you ridden the Lewis and Clark Trail?
https://www.dirtworld.com/trails/trai...20Bike%20Trail
I make it to Omaha for a week almost yearly to vist the in-laws.
Last time I took the MTB and really enjoyed that trail.

There's also a trail in Tranquilty Park that really nice but short.
https://members.cox.net/tpmbt/

Keep up the riding and give road riding a try too. The road out west are amazingly smooth.

Hello aprilm, I am pretty new here too. I bought a bike after not riding for years and got hooked within month as well. I started a few months ago and I already added a road bike. I did not skip my vacation though; I bought an old Raleigh Grand Prix for $100 from a bike mechanic. It is my main commuter and I totally love it.

Welcome aboard.

Wabash Trace

April, have you tried the Wabash Trace in Council Bluffs? I think total of 58 miles Rails to Trails and small towns all the way to Missouri border. Great ride and good folks

Weird, I was doing a search, and this popped up. Yes, I rode the Wabash Trace for the taco ride a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. Only went to Mineola for the tacos (and beer ). You'll have to try the taco ride if you haven't yet!

Taco Tuesdays on the Trace

I haven't tried one, mostly due to scheduling conflicts but now that you mention it...and beer!
