Greetings from the Oregon Trail

Greetings!

I have been enjoying the bike forums since I discovered them in March of this year (2007).

I live in a suburb outside of Portland, Oregon on the Willamette river.

I have been cycling off and on all my life but with a renewed interest since February.

Last October my daughter and her husband, who live in Seattle, suggested that three of us do a ride together called the STP. I readily agreed then promptly forgot all about it.

January of this year I looked on-line to see what I was in for and was dumbfounded to learn I had agreed to make the journey between Seattle and Portland (204 miles) in two days. I started training in February.

Since February I have cycled over 1300 miles and Im most decidedly an addict.
Before February I owned one bike, a Trek 7500 hybrid. Since then I have purchased two bikes a LeMond Versailles and a used Novara road/rain bike.

I commute to work as often as I can (2-3 days max). My commute is 11 miles one way.

I have been on one organized ride called the Monster Cookie Metric Century and it was such a blast that I have signed up for a couple of other rides locally.

I have learned quite a bit through these forums and appreciate the humor and sharing that takes place here.

Hello riversiderider, that is too funny! Next year, though, you will be doing the ONE day STP .

If you've been lurking for a while then I probably don't really need to point out places of interest, but just in case--don't forget to visit the Pacific Northwest regional forum.

Welcome to BF!'

Hey Riversider! Welcome aboard!

You'll love the STP! It goes through some great country.

Welcome Riversiderider!! You are off to a GREAT start, and I hope to see you on a ride in Oregon sometime. Keep an eye on the Pacific Northwest regional form, that is where we can compare notes and organize groups for rides. I also rode the Monster Cookie, it was a great day for a nice ride!
