Hello from San Francisco

Hi there.

My name is Sug, a 26 years old San Francisco residence originally from Japan.

My experience with bicycle riding has always been with MTBs (Currently own Trek 6500 w/ rigid forks from 90s) , and I used to enjoy motocross racing back in Japan.

I was so used to straight bar handles and upright riding form, and that made me away from trying the drop handles for years.

After a fair amount of research (and a push from my roadie co-workers), I finally made decision to get into the world of road bikes, and got myself a Trek Pilot 2.1 at a great price (2006 model, $999 at LBS) last month.

The reason behind choosing Pilot 2.1 over 2100 was obviously the lack of experience in road bikes and I thought the slightly upright geometry of the 2.1 would help me feel comfortable.

I've been riding everyday for commute and casual weekend cyclings with friends, and now I'm feeling comfortable with drop handles a lot more than before. I just flipped the stem upside down for a bit more streamlined positioning, and I'm enjoying the ride every single time.

Anyway, I'm still a complete newbie to bicycles, but looking forward to learning a lot more about it through this forum.

Thanks!

Hello Sug, you are lucky to be living in an area that has a lot to offer--great MTB riding, great road riding, and some of the nicest people on this board live in the Bay Area, especially if you develop a liking for Classic and Vintage bikes.

Check out the regional forum for Northern California!

Welcome to BF!
