Hi from London UK
Hi, I've just abandoned cars and cycle most weekends to my friends in Kent, about 74 miles one way. I have a 4 year old Gitane, and am currently building a Terry Dolan frame with Centaur groupset, and Shamal wheels. I realise this is a US based forum, but it was mentioned in the RoadCyclinguk.com newsletter, and this forum shows some good pictures, so I joined.

Hello phantazy, that sounds like a lovely ride! Do you combine the cycling with trains, or is it human powered the entire distance?
Come on and join us in the Living Car Free forum--it would be interesting to get a non US perspective.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

What is your route? The A2 would get you most of the way, but I don't think you would be allowed on the M2--or are you?

Hi East Hill,
Funny but I go past East Hill on my initial Route (Wandsworth), and then I go to Streatham and Croydon where I take the A21 to Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells and then on all the way to Hastings. And yes, it's a lovely ride. I don't go on the M2, as cycles are not allowed on motorways.
It's pouring with rain here at the moment, but I hope to have my Terry Dolan framed bike ready for the coming w/end. Campag Shamal wheels, Centaur groupset, Fizik, FSA, etc.

I saw that when I took a look at your start/end, and wondered about it!
Rained like the dickens here on Sunday--I still got out and rode 50 miles though.
I had a new bike--had to give it a good test, you know .

Yes, Swinton is (or at least, was when I was born there ), in Lancashire, very close to Manchester.

Kent Washington is about 20 miles southeast of Seattle.

Hi, The second one had to be compressed as an email rather than a web page for some obscure Microsoft reason, and I missed the message at first that it was too large to upload. Lets hope it works now!

I love the thing. However, I have a collection of about 12 bikes, ranging from a Nishiki Pro to a Centurion Ironman and back! Some nice mixtes in there, as well .
