Hello ...
Hello ... I'm a long distance cyclist, coming back from a 3 year lay-off. Been back on the bike for about 4 months now, and feeling great.

Hello the_engine, what are you riding? And are your long distance rides confined to NJ ?

I just posted my rides in my signature.
I typically ride in NJ and eastern PA. I have no affiliations, and currently ride solo. I'm looking to get back to riding centuries later this summer, and will ride a Brevet series next year ... we'll see how it goes from there.
I posted "Diabetes and LD riding", which tells a little of my story ...

It sounds as if you are determined to get back out there and ride! There are a few other people who can help with the diabetes issue--in fact, I am surprised that Tom Stormcrowe has not chimed in.
However, Type II diabetes is one reason why I ride. My mother has it, and I don't see it as a positive thing. I have a co-worker who seems to be quite proud of the fact that she has Type II diabetes...go figure.
Nice bikes, by the way. Perhaps some photos of the LeTour in the Classic & Vintage forum? We love Schwinns .

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I haven't chimed in because I just found the thread!
Welcome to BF! I ride as an advocate for the ADA, so good for you! It's a good reason to ride!
