Hello from San Diego

Hi everyone,

I'm a total novice in road biking but recently purchased a Fuji road bike to get into shape. Looking forward to learning from everyone here on the forums.

Current hobbies, photography, cars, off-roading, firearms (IDPA, sporting clays).

You guys have a great forum!

Paul

I'm a novice too, but I agree--there's so much information here (and interesting people, besides!).

Welcome!

Hello Paul, we think it's a great forum too! Don't forget, though, that the fun here comes from many members putting in their two cents worth. Meaning, don't be shy, we'd love to see you post.

A photographer! We can always use great photos of bikes here .

Welcome to BF!

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the world of cycling! Where in SD are you? There's many forum members in the area with overlapping interests. You may wish to check out the road cycling forum and the SoCal regional subforum.

I'm in Scripps Ranch and work in Mira Mesa. I'm planning on riding the lake this weekend as a relatively safe place to get my start. Any other suggested locations?

The highway 56 bike trail is a possibility for a training ride that isn't too far away from you. The coastal route is always enjoyable, and relatively flat once north of Del Mar. (Depending on the shape you're in, though, Torrey Pines may be a very big hill. It was too big for me to climb when I first started riding.) Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to find rides that don't get really hilly when you live around San Diego. It makes starting out a bit challenging since it's pretty hard to route a relatively flat ride.
