Howdy from Orange County

I'm 26 years old and live less than a block from the Peters Canyon trail in Tustin Ranch.

Looking for a fun way to stay in shape, I figured what better way than leverage my love for two wheels and use myself as the motor.

I'll be posting annoying questions in the next few weeks trying to find a steal on a pair of used mountain bikes for my GF and me. Thanks in advance for all your help and happy riding!

Hello JustBarno, no such thing as an annoying question unless you throw in weird philosphy with it, but if you stick to the basic annoying questions we won't have problems with that :D .

Craigslist is your friend. Garage sales and thrift shops too! Any idea what kind of MTBs you're looking for?

Welcome to BF!

Thanks EastHill,

I hadn't thought of garage sales and thrift shops, the hard part about those is that I can't reference the internet to get retail prices :)

I guess before too long I'll know what to look for.

As for what type, I really have no idea. Something that will be comfortable, and durable. I'll be riding mostly medium difficulty trails, but once in a while I get brave and push my limits a bit, and i'm 6'2'' 230 so the bike should be able to handle a thrashing.

Ah, a quick visit to the Clydesdales forum should help with some of those questions about bikes being able to handle a thrashing.

I suppose that after you've been looking long enough, you start to get a feel for what a good price would be for a bike, because you'll start looking at components, etc. Then you get addicted to classic & vintage bikes...:D .

For me, more likely modern and unique bikes. But I have too many addictions already, I just want a good fun workout :)
