Older newbster intro!

Hello all!
I'm not a newb per se, regarding the sport/hobby of bicycles. I have a love/appreciation/passion for most any mobile vehicle. Cars, motorcycles, lil' red wagons, whatever. Even bicycles!

I'm a child of the '60's riding Mustangs and Banana seat bikes. My teen years involved alotta' Mary Jane, and the rising popularity of the 10spd roadbike spawned by the bike cult classic movie,"Breaking Away." After that I went on to "find myself" as it were. Being 20 something and a product of the "Me" generation brings that on.

I bought a used Norco roadbike in '87 which rekindled the fun I had in my youth on bikes. I know mountainbikes were the popular thing at that time, but I was stuck in my old school ways and didn't bite.

In '92 I moved back to my hometown to help out my ailing mom. My little brother was into this mountainbike thing and after riding his old Kuwahara, I was hooked. I didn't get one, but he had a couple of MB handlebars which I converted on my Norco roadbike. I loved the more upright cockpit. However, the old Norco just coudn't cut it on the rides my bro took me on.

I bought my first MB a year later. A used Marin Muirwoods off a co-worker. It was around this point when the essense of the bike lifestyle was infiltrating its poison on me. I was fully intoxicated by anything bike oriented by summer '94.

I'm much more at a balance and better now, thank you.

At one point I owned nine bikes, but now possess five.

Here they are;

'96 KHS Aero Comp;

'06 Kona Jake the Snake;

'03 Kona Dawg;

The previously mentioned old school Norco roadbike of unknown vintage;

'95 Proflex 855;

The Proflex is my pride and passion right now. It's a 46'er frankenbike that I've dubbed, "Project RATROD." It's an older pic of when I first got it. {$80.00CAD...Woohoo!**.

I'm gonna paint it black and jerry rig a rear shock in the future. It's life is going to be a coffeeshop cruiser type bike for its remaining time with me. Here's a couple of pics of it's current state;

I like all kinds of bikes and the gearhead in me is currently liking the custom, chopper, cruiser, frankenbike trend going on lately.
Cheers.

Welcome, GinSonic. I see you've discovered how good cats are at guarding your bikes from other cats. You never have to worry about cats stealing your bikes when you've got a bike-guard cat on the job.

Yeah. The "Dozer,"{his name's Dozy**, is a pretty cool companion. He likes to be where the action is.

I had just brought the Proflex home after purchasing and set it up to snap pics. As with any pet, they just have to investigate any new foreign objects in their territory. Just doing what's natural.

I kinda' lurked around in the ALT BIKES forum as a guest. I noticed that access to some of the links to pics and some URLs were restricted to only BF members, so I joined up.

I meant to join up eventualy, but the interest in my Proflex coffee cruiser conversion spurred me on to join up sooner. I'll definitely be doing alotta' searches in here to find what I need to know.

BF is a really gi-nimbus community to be sure and I hope I can contribute to make it a great place to visit.
Thanks for the warm welcome East Hill and Donnamb.
Cheers.
