Hi

I'm pretty new to the bike riding thing. I've tried different kinds of exercise and couldn't find anything that I enjoyed. I recently purchased my first bike since age 10 and I've been riding like crazy! My plan is to lose lots of inches and pounds this year. I didn't buy a hightech bike or an expensive one. I want to make sure I'll keep this up, when I prove to myself I can do this, I'll get a nice one.
Nice to meet you all

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Well, hello and welcome to Bike Forums!

Be sure to check out Clydesdales forum. I don't know if you are actually a CLyde, but we have a pretty active weight loss through cycling community there!

Mate, I was in exactly the same boat as you, except I stopped riding when I was 13, not 10. In the two months since I bought my bike, I've lost six pounds, my belt is back in its smallest buckle-hole (first time in a long time) and I'm loving riding in a way that I never ever loved the gym .

Go for it!

Hello RNBiker, don't be leery of visiting the Clydesdales forum. As Tom said, even if you don't fit the traditional definition of a Clyde/Athena, it's a great support group. I see you got yourself a Next cruiser-- do you stick to just the bike paths? The sore bum goes away after a few weeks--if it doesn't though, you may need to check into a different saddle. As a travel nurse, do you travel enough to make your next bike a folder?

Welcome to BF!
