    Hey...

I am new here, and relatively new to cycling.. Until this week I was riding a Specialize Mountain bike, typically 5-9 miles a day (to the gym).. I just got me a road bike which I'll be using to commute to work. The bike is a Giant OCR 1, and my commute is 9 miles each way.. will ride probably 3-4 days a week...

Now that I am riding my new bike I realize how bad was my old bike, which rolls like a brick... The only issue I have with the new bike is the seat... hance my handle... But I understand I will get use to it over time..

    Lookig forward to participating here..

    Welcome, sorebut!

Well, we have all been there at one time or another! If you are not wearing padded bike shorts, that is where I would start. After that, see if you LBS (local bike shop) has any old saddles (or new ones!) that they will let you test drive. Believe it or not, too much padding is usually bad! I tried out 6 saddles before I found the one I liked!

    Good luck, and keep posting!

~~Oh dear~~ Sore Hinney~~ That rings bells, was my first 'injury'. I got a jellytype seat cover from Walmart to help, and it did~~ felt like training wheels had been removed when I took it off and didn't die~~
The padded shorts are good now~~

I've had several since 1999 but have settled on my beloved 2001 Litespeed Tuscany and my latest, a 2013 Cannondale CAAD 10.

I agree 100%. Too much padding in the saddle is worse than too little. Your butt will get used to sitting on a hard seat, it just takes time in the saddle.
Wearing good quality cycling shorts with padding is essential to comfort while riding. Gym shorts, jeans, etc. will not be comfortable with any type of saddle.
Let us know how your commute is going on the commuting forum.
