A new one on me...
I've participated in several online "communities" in the last 5 or so years, but never have I had an invitation to post!
I hope the admin knows what he's doing!
I'm a 44 year old american male who just refuses to grow up. Not that I'm irresponsible, just don't want to grow up.
I"m mainly a mountain biker that loves road bikes. I see beauty in finely crafted diamond frames and delicately filed and silver soldered lugs, luxuriously finished in mile deep lacquer. Give me downtube friction shifters and I'll give you miles of troublefree transmission. Throw a long wheelbase and relaxed angle at me and I'll carve gentile arcs through corners not meant to be ridden that way. Place a well broken in leather saddle on my seatpost and I'll talk away a century, reveling in the beauty that surrounds us.
Or, grab my mountain bike and go raise a little hell.
No matter, it's all cycling...
I am currently employed as the Service Manager in a lovely little shop in an even lovelier little town in Mid Michigan. I have never been happier being this broke in all my life. there is an old saying: If you want to make a million dollars in the bike business-spend three million dollars...it's true....
Currently in my stable:
'65 Schwinn Sting Ray DeLuxe
'73 Raleigh Competition
'73-5 Torpado GT2000
'91 GT Tequesta (retired, most recently set up as a SS)
'96 Jack Hammer SS (Penned in Michigan, welded in Co by Chris Herting)
'97 Jamis Dakar Team (currently just a frame, awaiting rebuild)
'99 Diamondback Expert (lots of room in the stays, awaiting canti studs. Future cross usage)
'99 LeMond Reno
'99 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp
'01 Cannondale F3000
That's it for now...

Every lane is a bike lane
Welcome to the forums Farmer John! By the sound of things, the admin made no mistake in inviting you to post. I refuse to grow up, too (although I'm only 26 yet). How about talking away a century while raising hell on the mountain bike?

Welcome Farmer John; I too am a devote fan of no hassle-extreme reliablity of down tube friction shifting-but I guess I would accept barends as well!
