    Howdy!

    Hello all,

My name is Darrin, and I am an avid (though quite amatuer) bicyclist located in Idaho's scenic and amazing Treasure Valley. I've been riding for almost as long as I can remember, but only seriously took up bicycle commuting when I was 15, had no car, and lived about 12 miles away from most of the entertainment options for the weekends. I have cycled off and on in a random cycle since then, but have been getting more and more into riding over the last two years.

My passions of late have been in the restoration of 1970's and 1980's road bikes into riding condition, and I am currently most often seen on a 1982 Centurion LeMans. It's blue and beautiful.

I mostly started visiting this site seeking information and advice about tandem bikes as the Sugarplum Terrorist (aka Beloved Stoker) and I are planning on using one so we can ride together instead of just at the same time.

Thus far, I have really enjoyed reading the forums here, especially the tandem forurm, for all the friendliness and quality of advice offered.

Hello Darrin, you do live in a great area of the country! If you are into restoration of classic & vintage bikes, you need to bring yourself and some photos over to the Classic & Vintage forum, where you will be happily welcomed .

I myself have a pearlescent beige 1980 Centurion LeMans mixte--the first mixte I ever owned. It's still one of my favourite bikes.

    Welcome to BF!

    Oops!

I was wrong about the year of manufacture of my Centurion. That matters very little to most people anywhere with Internet access and a desire to read this forum, but I like to correct my errors.

Courtesy of Mr. Sheldon Brown* and his inimitable website I have learned through serial number interpretation that mine is a 1980 model, and not a 1982 as I had previously thought.

And yes, sooner or later some pictures will be made for posting in the appropriate forum for older model bicycles.

*Nobody has done more to facilitate my interest in bicycle riding as an adult then Mr. Brown. If it were not for the huge amount of useful information on his website, both mechanical and inspirational, I would not have taken either the time or effort to rebuild that first old Schwinn I used to get around for a year which rekindled my love for riding.

pleen, Mr. Brown is a great man, and we are privileged to have him here as a member!

Another member, A. Winthrop (along with yet another member, T-Mar) contributed the Centurion article to Captain Brown's site.

Both A. Winthrop and T-Mar are found in the Classic & Vintage forum, and I can assure you without hesitation that your Centurion post will be noticed .

Sheldon Brown most frequently contributes to the Bicycle Mechanics forum, but he has been known to stop by the C & V forum every once in a while.
