Newbie in New Mexico
Hello all,
I'm Sean. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I do graphic design, screen print shirts, and like to fix up old bikes. I am starting to commute to work everyday. Was pretty hardcore addicted to oxycontin. cleaned up six months ago, so cycling is my redemption of sorts.

Hey, welcome to bikeforums.
Thats pretty cool how you got clean and are staying that way. No easy task.
Anyway, I'm jealous of where you live. It's my goal to move to New Mexico if I can ever line up a job there. Too many people in Albuquerque though.

yea recently Albuquerque has blown up as far as the amount of people. Surrounding areas around Abq are getting bigger too. I don't know if you have been here or not, but if you can believe this, Albuquerque is connected all the way to Bernalillo. As far as residential. Its out of control. Kind of work do you do?

I lived in Albuquerque for a year. It was nice to have access to restraunts, movies, and stores. But I quickly grew tired of the traffic, lights, and noise. Northern New Mexico is very nice, great scenery, little traffic, and perfect climate. Sort of like Colorado except minus the "Colorado tax," congested roads, and cold winters.

The mountains and fresh air is what gets me. All so close too! Pecos is my favorite spot for camping and fishing.

Hello Sean, cycling has been the salvation of many who need to get their heads straightened out, so I know that you will continue to stay clean. I had to take oxycontin for some medical issues a while back--it's useful for what it is, but a horror when you don't need it .
Anyway, if you like to fix up old bikes, will we be seeing you over at Classic & Vintage? If we don't see you there, perhaps in the Commuting forum ?
Welcome to BF!

Yea I'm sure it'll be the rush I need. Thanks for wishing me well. I will most likely be in vintage, road bikes, and maybe fixed gear. I Have a 1970-180? Benotto road bike and an 1970-1980? schwinn road bike, and a vintage japanese schwinn as well. Also in the commuting forum!!

Yeah I've been to Albuquerque, and all over northern NM. Albuquerque is cool in its own right, just by the scenery and nice people that live there. But, I prefer someplace much more rural. And rural isn't hard in NM, with 13 people per square mile, and 75% of people there living in cities.
If I had to live in a city around there, I think I'd go for Santa Fe. Not too big, and the building codes make for some very neat scenery.
