old bike, new travels
 

Hello,
New to the forum. My girlfrind and I are using some old bikes.

Hers: 1990 Terry Prism, 1979 Schwin Le Tour and a old Mongoose mountain bike
Mine: 80s vintage Soma Generation(s) and Schwnn World Sport, and a Nashbar Mtn bike.

We've just finished a 5 day ride of the C&O Canal from Wash DC to Cumberland Md, and some months ago a 2 week ride through Estonia. My previous long rides include New Zealand and Australia.

We're planning a bit of holiday and are looking here to get advice on bicycle travel, and hints on keeping our vintage rides relliable.

For example: Has anyone been able to do any combination biking and train rides in Asia?

Wow. I don't have any answers for you (though check in Touring), but it sounds very exciting. Welcome.

Hello toorguide, there must be someone who can help you with the tour question re Asia, but I must tell you that we will want to see both her bikes and yours! Errr, especially her Terry Prism. I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

Here's a link to a Terry Prism I picked up that didn't work for my short-legged self... The pictures are from when I got it, so I didn't know what to take photos of back then. I've learned more from you guys since then!

I was expecting to see something like my 24" front wheel, 700c rear wheels!

Well, mine is one of the larger ones, so they didn't do that... they only did it on the smaller sizes. I'm about to sell it in an hour, I think.
