New in Richmond, VA

Richmond, VA
I am a new bike commuter, just started riding again about 4 months ago, 5 miles each way, about 3-4 days a week.
Used to ride when I was younger, I am 50 now and I use it for exercise. Lost 20 lbs as of yesterday.
Interested in commuting discussions, bike advocacy, and I noticed there is a car-free discussion !
I bought a Figi Crosstown 4.0. I seems O.K. but the crank bearing needs to be tightened on a regular basis.
Anyway,
Hello and thanks.

Hello sherob08, does this mean you are car free in Richmond? I think that is amazing, if you are. From what I remember of being there, it would be a difficult task.

Good job on the weight loss, and let's see some photos of your commute .

Welcome to BF!

Actually not car free, my wife needs the car to travel for work, but I can get around fairly well. If you know RVA, I live in the Byrd Park area (next to the Fan) and commute to near Willow Lawn. I wouldn't want to go any farther west, the burbs are not bike friendly! In-town is a lot easier.
Take care

Ah, you live in the nicer part of town (certainly nicer for cycling ). No, I would not want to go further west--that's the part we went through on our way somewhere else...! Not bike friendly at all.
