On your left!!

Well, since I've just loaded a process into my desktop that's going to take at least an hour to run, maybe I should use this time to introduce myself.
for those refugees from bicycleforum, I'm Alex (my middle name, my first name starts with a D), but that name was already used here.
I'm a mechanical engineer, finishing up work on my master's degree, and working a very dull job at a utility.
My main interest is in road bikes and touring bikes. I also own a hybrid, and a classic Raleigh. I don't race. I do most of the work on my bikes myself. I worked at a bike shop when I was in High School. I really hated that job, because the owner wasn't interested in perfection, wheras I was. He went out of business many years ago.

Nice to meet you Alex.

Let me introduce myself then, too (I get a bit of free time here on the job when my computer is thinking and all I can do is access the web)

I am a Geographic Information System Specialist. Glorified name for a cartographer (mapmaker). I work in government, which has its ups and downs. :thumbdn:

I own one bike, a touring bike, and really want to get a mountain bike soon. I do some of the work on my bike myself. I think the next bike that I want to get is a used bike so that I can really open up its guts before I get to the bikes that I want to keep around for a long time.

Obviously HTML tags don't work on headings, and boy does that look stupid! Why can't I edit the heading?
