Hi - new cyclist in the Bay Area. Been commuting to work for several years on a 12 year-old mountain bike, finally have decided to buy a road bike. Hopefully get into cycling, racing maybe, long weekend rides.
Checking out local bike shops, very impressed with Velo Tech here in Palo Alto.

Hello MontanaJustin, what bike did you decide to buy?

Don't forget to check out the Northern California regional forum--almost always a ride you can join down there with fellow members.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks for the tip - I haven't yet decided on a bike, though I'm definitely looking. My wife just picked up a Look 386 carbon w/ dura-ace, used for just over a $1,000. I'll probably be looking for something roughly equivalent.

Yes, definitely check the regional forum. Those folks go on rides certainly every weekend, and depending on your experience you should have no problem finding someone at your level (and your wife, too). Although you do need a bike first !
