Hi from Arkansas

Hi, My name is Phil. Im 55, married with 2 grown kids and 3 grandkids. Have been riding since I was 40. Started with mountain bikes and then added road riding. I ride for fun and fitness, not for competition. My current rides are a Specialized Stumpjumper and a Specialized Roubaix Pro.

I have had minor lower back issues since 2000 and just last month was told I had a bone spur in my neck an should probably give up riding. Not one to give up easily, I stumbled on this forum while looking for info on recumbent bikes, and it looks like I have hit the jackpot! Theres tons of info on recumbents and lots of friendly folks willing to share what they know and I cant wait to get started learning. I will probably ask some stupid questions that have been answered a thousand times before, and I promise to use the "search" feature before posting something really dumb.

Would be interested to know if there are any "bent" riders in Arkansas that are members here. Thanks!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Welcome to BF, Phil! Best way to find out about any 'bent riders here is to visit the Recumbent subforum here! Lot's of good info there too!

Hello Phil, there should be at least a few 'bent riders in Arkansas, although you might want to wander to the Recumbent forum and ask.

Welcome to BF!

Welcome from a newcomer to these forums, Phil. I'm your neighbor to the east over in Memphis.

There's a wealth of info here, and I'm finding if you don't see something, ask a question. You'll get some good responses.

The recumbent crew certainly are enthusiastic about riding. You'll love those folks, and learn a lot here.

Not a 'bent man myself, but I get to Little Rock a few times a year. Wife is from there. Love road riding in the area. Especially out east around Scott where the farm roads just go on forever with little traffic.

Thanks for the welcome and words of encouragement. A lot of my newbie questions have been answered since I spent 2 hours going through the first 10 pages of topics and threads in the recumbent section last night , I plan on reading nearly every one

What part of AR are you from? I live on the east side in Jonesboro. I am just a beginner and have not even found the bike I want yet but it is nice to meet a fellow Arkie!

I live in Fordyce, about 70 mi south of Little Rock. I do most of my riding locally, but if I really like the bent bike, I may try to get up to Little rock for some rides up there.
