Hi from Austin

Hi, everyone. I'm a former mediocre masters road and mountain bike racer coming back to riding a road bike after a layoff of 12 years, during which I essentially did no exercise whatever. My kids, the youngest of whom is in college, harangued me into riding again. Now I ride with them as a family activity (!) the like of which I have not done for many years. It's made us closer. Of course, I can't ride like I used to and I'm just now up to a leisurely 30-miler after a month of riding.

I'm probably most accurately described as an enthusiastic beginner with some remembered skills. As they say, it's just like riding a bike. However, the engine on my bike seems sort of anemic...

Hope to enjoy this forum, possibly connect with others in similar situations and possibly share some wisdom I can't back up on the bike yet!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Welcome to BF Soma! Austin, huh? Great cycling town! Good hard challenge climbing Jester, eh?

As to the Anemic engine, well, that'll improve!

Yeah, I used to do reps up Jester back when as part of my training program. Now I can only shake my head. But I am having as much or more fun now, even with the little putt-putt engine! Thanks for the welcome, Tom.

Hehehe, the engine will get bigger, soon. Honest!

Don't forget to take a look at the Texas regional forum--you will be able to race against them soon (well, except for maybe Lance).

Welcome to BF!
