I'm a 21 year old NYU Stern student going into my senior year. I stopped riding my yellow mongoose MTB ever since I got my car when I was 16 and hadn't looked back since. I first became semi-interested in cycling when I was introduced to the intricacies of the sport by my French teacher in high school. I watched the Tour de France some but ultimately didn't pay too much attention to it.
I was actually a serious tennis player in high school but stopped playing in college and have since gotten in terrible shape. A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I decided to rent bikes on the west side for a leisurely ride... I've been hooked ever since. The week after, I picked up a used Cannondale S800 w/ Shimano Ultegra components off Craigslist for around $300 and have been riding almost everyday since along the West Side Highway and doing laps in central park. My enthusiasm was infectious though and even my girlfriend ended up getting a vintage Ross off ebay so she could ride with me. Once I get my fitness up, I hope to ride much more seriously, I've even convinced a friend of mine to get serious with me, hes looking to get a vintage miyata so we can start training together.
Right now I'm doing a summer internship in finance in midtown, most of the time I'm really bored so I've been a lot of reading and research about bikes and cycling in general which is how I happened upon this forum which has just been a goldmine of information.
Now for my most exciting bit of news, I actually just closed down on a deal for a Dave Moulton Fuso which I cannot wait to ride...
Anyway, just saying hi. I realize I'm a huge cycling noob and any tips and support will be hugely appreciated! I look forward to participating in the community :]
