Say Hey Ya'll!!! From home of the Yankees

Hey everybody, another totally clueless newbie looking to take up yet another activity.

Right now, I'm just scouring the threads, gathering as much info as possible.

Also, looking to purchase my first bike, also I have no idea what to buy, but I'm looking to commute from the Bronx to Mid-Town Manhattan.

If you guys and gals could point me the some informative sites, threads, etc. it would be greatly appreciated. I want to avoid making useless threads for questions that's been answered thousands of times already.

    Thank Again, and great board.

    I pity you...

I felt terrible being in a 10 year drought for a championship (a fan since '86), I couldn't imagine not winning anything for 85 years. O well, better luck next year.

you could always carbo load at H&H Bagels on the way in....

i believe the song goes 'fools to the left of me, jokers to the right...

what you buy depends on how you are storing your bike once you get to work.
I have enough words to get me into trouble, but not enough to get me out of trouble.

Well, I'm able to store the bike in the mailroom; I work there, but I was thinking of just buying something cheap, since this is my first bike since childhood.

    Beatphats,

You should start by checking out the commuting forum. There
is all kinds of great information on types of bikes, bad weather
gear, how to carry your stuff, and how and where to store your
bike. You should find enough there so that you have some kind
of idea what you are looking for and what to ask about when
you go to buy your first bike.

Good luck and the Yankees rule.

Welcome New Yorker!! I'm jealous of your Yankees....like they really needed Aaron Boone...couldn't they have left him for the Dodgers or someone else? lol

Welcome Beatphats, I don't know anything about commuting in NYC. But, I do know what its like to be a red sox fan, and your 1986 reference really hurts.:
