Hi All,
Mark here, in Bexley Ohio (a bubble in Columbus). Just found and joined the forum. I was redirected here from a Flickr bike related group.
I've started commuting to work a couple times a week on my way to as often as possible. Yesterday's ride was a head spinner, for a moment. For the first time I was in traffic with cars passing on my left and an 18 wheeler passing on my right. Yeowza!

That's 4 lanes at the intersection with (c)ars to my left, I'm the x, heading up the page with everyone else, and the (t)ruck to my right, about to turn right. I think I prefer that which is to my right to be stationary. How could I have done this differently so as to not be sandwiched between moving vehicles for a breath holding moment?
=)

This is when you do the 'take the lane' thing. It's scary, for sure. Do you have a mirror on the bike or helmet? I've found that a mirror goes a long way in relieving some anxiety.
Otherwise....you can ask the folks in Advocacy and Safety what they'd do, and be prepared for a twenty page treatise on the finer points of riding in traffic .
Welcome to BF!
