Hi!

Well, I just joined today because hubby and I are trying to decide if we're going to be able to do this bike ride in Italy that I've been wanting to do for 5 years. If we do it, it'll take some major training, that's for sure.

We ride 12-15 miles on a semi-regular basis - moreso during good biking weather. However, it's mostly flat. I ride an Electra Townie 21 that I adore, but yes, I am a wimp - it's a comfort bike. I do love my bike though, more than is probably good for me. If we're to do this ride I need to switch back to my old mountain bike. No comfort bikes allowed on the Italy ride. Sad.

So that's about it. Oh, and we also use a Walky Dog to take Jacko the border collie/greyhound on bike rides. He loves it. Now we have to take him for "you know whats" because saying the phrase bike ride in our house will likely get you covered in doggie kisses, then pounced on if you don't get going quickly enough for his liking.

Welcome, Laura Rae. Townies are awesome. I think it's kind of bizarre that they'd allow a mountain bike on this tour in Italy when a well-equipped Townie wouldn't be any more of a problem. You know they most likely want people to ride road bikes on this, right?

You can never love your bike enough.

Well, it's not that Townies aren't allowed, it's that they don't rent them and I don't really have the wherewithal to fly my bike to Italy with me and then cart it around after to the tour. I'm too afraid of what might happen to it!

Anyway, it's a self guided tour with support, so it will be just hubby and I on the ride. We'll be riding in the Tuscan region, starting in Pienza and ending in Chianti somewhere, covering about 120 miles in 3 days.
