Hola!

Just found the forum & decided to join, hoping to network with some like-minded collectors and riders. I'm a vet of the US Navy, 8 years service. 5 years as a "weather guesser" and 3 years as a combat photog. Vet of OIF I and OIF II.
I've been riding seriously for about 15 years. This year I finally built up my dream road bike. A Columbus SLX frame (Titan Epsilon) from the early '90's and have just about completed it with a full Campy Record grouppo.
I'm quite into the restoration of old English bikes. I've got a 1958 Rudge Sports that is all original aside from the spokes & nipples. That's a constant work in progress but is coming along very nicely.
I'm a daily bike commuter, braving the wild streets of Philadelphia to and from work/school.
I look forward to participating in the forums.

Phil

Hi Phil, I was an oldtime IM on the Midway--I'll let you guess how many years ago that was!

East Hill (my wife) is slacking at the moment, so I'll fill in for her and tell you that you should take photos of the Rudge and wander over to the Classic & Vintage forum .

Sammilove was right, I was slacking. Some photos of the Rudge would be nice though. Your job as a combat photographer does not sound like pleasant duty--taking photos of bikes should be a much more pleasant occupation.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks for the welcome, Sammilove,
I joined the Navy as an AG actually. Spent 5 years as a weather guesser then crossrated to PH. When I was was in school for weather down in Biloxi, MS, I trained alongside the last of the IM's in the Navy.
You know, your old boat is in San Diego bay as a museum, right? We always used to give our AGCS (Div LCPO) a hard time because he was stationed on the Midway and they had made the decision to move her to SD. Said that he'd have to report to the weather office to make the museum more complete.

I'll definitely post some Rudge photos before the weather gets bad. Maybe even when the weather IS bad. I intend to ride to work & school into the winter as long as possible.

Thanks again!
Phil

I knew a couple of AGs when I was on the Midway...Lt. McKaige (sp?) was in charge then...I know that the Midway is in SD, although I haven't yet gone to see her down there. My training was at Great Lakes...
