Chiboy Intro

Hello, bikeforummembers! I'm Chiboy, glad to meet you. I just joined here a week or so ago, and thought I'd do a quick intro:

My second to last bike was a Panasonic ten speed when I was in high school, which was 30 years ago. I used it on a few 30 or 40 mile rides, but really just to get from point A to point B. My last bike was a Schwinn Sierra Comp, that my wife and I each got in 1989. Yes, 1989. We used it on some trails here in the suburbs of Chicago, but mainly to bike in our neighborhood or just go thru the forest preserve. I have lots of friends who bike seriously on the road and have excellent bikes, and I would like to be able to work myself up to taking some decent rides with them. But I also would like to continue to be able to bike in the forest preserve or down by the lake shore in Chicago on the path there without worrying about bending a $300 rim. So, I sold my old bike on craigslist and went looking for a new toy. I ended up deciding that a cyclocross bike should suit my needs well -- fast enough for keeping up with road bikes, indelicate enough to handle light trails. I, of course, test rode bikes that were way out of my budget, and ended up falling in love with a Specialized Tricross Expert. I hunted around and found a year old Tricross Comp (almost as good, but not quite) in my budget and it should be delivered here on Thursday. Needless to say, I'm very psyched! In a sense, I bought the nice bike before I got serious about biking, but I'm pretty sure I will get great use out of it. I run a lot (15+ miles a week), and would like to embrace biking as a great form of exercise that will ultimately be easier on my body. So, here I am. I'm a complete newbie/novice, but have learned a bit from test riding bikes and looking thru this forum. I hope to be here long enough to one day ANSWER a question!

Hello Chiboy, even as a new person you can answer questions--on how a new person looks at things! So don't worry, there's a place for you .

Welcome to BF!
