Greetings

Hi everyone!

I've enjoyed reading the posts here, so I thought I'd join to post some questions in the Commuting section. I'm a commuter newbie and need some advice on gear. Hope y'all will read my posts and give me some "pearls of wisdom"

Welcome to the forums I spent 10 years in Cleveland split between Cleveland Hgts and the near west side. Did a ton of riding back then used to peddle from Tremont to Chagrin Falls a lot had a girl friend out there. Are you planning on doing a year round commute?

Heya QC welcome to the forums.

I commute almost everywhere, it's a great way to get exercise and train on the bike.... as well as decrease air polution and relieve stress.... feel free to pm me with any questions you might have.

Pman,

Thanks for the reply.

ngateguy,

I'm not sure about winter commuting. I'd be creating my own wind chill! Maybe you forgot about Cleveland winters...

VegasCyclist,

I'll take you up on your offer soon.

I'm in Montréal and use the bike year round. You need good fenders and mudguards to protect you and your bike's drivetrain, but providing you take the turns a bit more slowly, cycling in Winter more enjoyable than cycling in cold rain.

Just take it one day at a time and, at first, avoid snowstorms and very cold days, especially if your commute is a long one. It won't take too long that you'll be out most, if not all, the time.

Commuting in Winter is not hard. You just dress for it and prepare your bike. I did it in New York and Portland, OR. Portland is easier.

Welcome to the forums QC

Oh no was there in '76 and '77 that s when I said I am out of here and followed the rest of my family who had moved back right after I graduated from HS (except brother he came back in '78 after he finished up at Cleveland State). I also remember the summers to don't miss the humitity. I do miss the people and the rock and roll I am thinking of comming back next year for my 30th reunion it will be the first time back in 27 years I hear a lot has changed

Footnote: I do have a piece of the old stadium a freind who is from Cleve Hgts brought it out to me right after the demolition.
