new to bikes, raleigh passage 3.0 any good?
hey guys my name is jake,
i bought a raleigh passage 3.0 for $20 bucks at a yard sale.
it looks pretty new i guess. does raleigh make a good bike?
I live in downtown Salt Lake City and am seriously considering
giving up my Vdub for a bike, but I don't want to start out
with a worthless bike.

Welcome to BF Raleigh bikes are of decent quality and they haven't sold out their name to Walmart so you should be okay. To me $20 for any ridable bike is a good deal Check out the Living Car Free Forum also the Utility Forum for ideas on giving up the car. If nothing else you can become car light just by riding more and driving less. Every little bit helps!
Good Luck!
Aaron

Welcome Jake..
Raleigh makes very good bikes. $20 is a bargain.
My last road/commuter bike was a Raleigh. Had lots of great times and miles on it.
We sell the Passage at the shop I work at. It's an ENTRY LEVEL hybrid.
If you're thinking of going car-free or car-lite, you may want to invest in a better bike for commuting, errands, etc. and use the Passage as a backup bike.
Read through the Commuting and Living Car Free forums for ideas and suggestions.
