Hello from Mich.

Hello, Bike Forums.
I've been riding year round in West Michigan for the last two years. I started with a '70s model Ross that I got for free from a guy I work with. This past summer I switched to a more recent Schwinn LeTour that I got from my uncle. Then, I hacked up the Ross, painted it and converted it to a single speed. In the heavier snow I have a Huffy mountain bike that I traded a few stereo speakers and paintings for.

My ride to work is around 5 miles but the hills can be a pain in the snow. I probably average around 60 miles a week not including the ride to work and back.

I'm more of an anarchist DIY rider and haven't spent more than $100 for a bike or parts yet. But I look forward to checking out the forums (winter riding especially) to maybe get some tips on decent gear, designs and modifications.

Nice to meet you all.

Hello Mattsimoto, is Jenison home of the world's most golf courses packed into the smallest area? Where do you go riding?

Welcome to BF!

Not so much golf courses as churches. There are upwards of four or five on some intersections, which makes for tricky traffic Sunday mornings.

I usually ride along the Grand River from my house to downtown Grand Rapids. Sometimes east as far as Ada, or West as far as Holland and the lakeshore. We have a lot of new trails in this area if you know how to get to them.

I'm on the other side of Michigan, but welcome just the same!

I haven't done much winter riding in years. It's a chore. Plenty of crashing. Make sure you have spikey tires.
