New to bikeforums and a big sloppy hello

Hello bike forums folks,

Since I'm new to this site as well as all forums/user groups I wanted to give a brief introduction.

I live in San Francisco since 1983 (minus a couple of years back in the East Bay). I began riding bikes again in 1993 while traveling South East Asia. I found some of my best times in Asia were while riding a bike. God I love those Chinese single speeds. When I returned I bought a bike and have been riding it and others since then. I feel that riding is an extension of my travels, even when I'm commuting to the library, work, Mt. Tam, the beach, etc.

One of these days I'll actually partake in a long distance cycle touring adventure. Until then I'll continue to live vicariously through others and travel around here.

About my bikes...I have four of them but really only use two.

Nick

Hello Nick, so exactly what bikes do you have?

Don't forget to check in with the regional forums--there's a big BF presence in Northern California.

Welcome to BF!

Nice selection there!

Do you ever ride up Mt. Diablo?

Yes I ride up Diablo about once a year, but for me a better ride is around Diablo along Morgan Territory. Also since I live iN San Francisco I tend to ride more in Marin than in the East Bay.

Do you ever ride across the GG? I've always wondered what that would be like, especially travelling through the fog.

Most of the riding in San Francisco really is done in Marin County so I ride over the Golden Gate bridge quite often. Riding over the bridge is o.k. In the fog can be cool but it is better when sunny and not windy, and event that rarely occurs. What is the weather like in Kent?

Usually wet and grey, especially at this time of the year . It can be quite pleasant in the spring and summer (Kent is just slightly southeast of Seattle).

Hi East Hill,

I didn't check this recently and didn't see the posting. Sorry about that. Kent doesn't sound so bad. Probably not so hot in the Summer and really lovely in the Fall too.
