Saying hi from San Anto, baby!
My name is Mago (not for real, but a good nickname) and I live in San Antonio. I am in the process of purchasing a Miyata 1000 on Monday, and will be training up to commute between the long-distance points of my house on one side of town and the university I'll be attending in the middle of town. Looks like a daily commute, so I should trim down fast and get shredded, since I'm do capoeira on top of all this.
So, hello from South Texas, home of good Mexican food, serious suburban sprawl, and little true bike lanes.

Hi Mago, that Miyata sounds like something the Classic & Vintage forum would enjoy seeing photos of . How long is your commute going to be? You should check into the regional forums, too--Texas has a forum just for itself. I don't know of any other capoeiristas on the board, but there must be a few. Ask in Foo...

From what I understand from the seller, its a late nineties bike, so maybe not quite a Vintage ride, but I think I got a good deal on it.
I'll probably lurk some, but I'll be around.
My commute, as I have done some reading since, isn't so long, only 16 miles, then a short 3 mile hop, then a 16 mile return trip.
Peace, love, and good energy.

Further research has indicated that the seller had no idea what he had. I've placed it by paint and graphic in the early 80s, which jibes with this identical twin I saw listed as a 1981 Miyata 1000.
Its sweet, and a nice ride.
I'll throw it out there.

I haven't been to Hemisfair Park in millennia, it seems. Let me take a peek the next time I'm riding through downtown, and I'll send a pic.
