Introduction

Just joined the forum. I'm a new cyclist, having just bought a new road bike (my first bike since I was 12, which was a long time ago).

The bike's a Trek 1500, aluminium frame with full Ultegra and Bontrager Select wheelset and Look 357 pedals but otherwise stock. I've replaced the Trek saddle with a WTB Speed-V which is comfortable but a little out of place on a road bike, so I will be looking to replace it with something lighter, sleeker, and a probably marginally less comfortable (any suggestions welcome).

I've only been riding for about 10 days now, 140km so far, averaging around 25km/hour (I know it's not either fast or far, but hey I'm just starting).

I'm coming from a background of running 80-100km a week (had to stop for a while due to injury), so strength and endurance should be okay, although I can already feel my running muscles atrophying and my cycling muscles strengthening (which is funny when you consider that they're exactly the same muscles, just used differently).

One amazing thing I've found about cycling is that I've owned my bike for less than two weeks and can only just ride it, but I already have these obsessive thoughts about upgrading (5200, Dura Ace, Mavic, or maybe Colnago C40/Record or Litespeed Tuscany etc etc ...). Why is that?

We all started started out that way.

When I started cycling my first bike was a "low end" Raleigh R600 road bike. Before long I too was lusting after a Litespeed. Now I own one.
