Old Tourist

My wife and I started touring in 1974, founded The Bicycle Outfitter in Los Altos in 1976, started Outfitter Bicycle tours in 1996, sold the store in 2004, and we continue to run bicycle tours in France and Italy and plan to until we can't pedal anymore. I am 72 and holding, my wife Marilyn a bit younger and a very good (although mouthy) Stoker on our tandems. We live in the Dordogne in Southwest France May - October and California November to May. Great life and we owe it all to the bike! We have done and run tours in: California Coast, California Gold Country, San Juan Islands, Vermont, Hawaii, Holland, Ireland, Normady, Bodenese, Dordogne, Lot, Aveyron, Alsace, Pyrenees, Alpes, Dolomites and Tuscany. We have been bogged down running tours in France and Italy in recent years, but love it! Running a large Pro Shop for 28 years gives me a unique perspective and I hope I can contribute positively to this Forum.

Hello Dick, you certainly will bring a different perspective, not to mention a wealth of knowledge, to this board. This forum is a thriving community of people who really do appreciate all things cycling, and I know that I love hearing from different voices. Please share your experiences with us .

Welcome to BF!

Thank YOU!

I always enjoy welcoming new people, because I really like encouraging people to post. It's interesting, educational, and really does make this a better, stronger community.

And, we're envious .

By the way, you might want to look at the regional forums--there are a number of members who live near you, and who may have already met you . Red Rider and her husband are tandem riders who live out your way...
