Greetings from Tigard, Oregon

Hi, I'm John and I Live in Tigard Oregon. I'm originally from New Brunswick, NJ where I used to like to ride my old 10-speed out in rural Somerset County back in the late 70's and early 80's. I moved out of Jersey around 1990 and after a few years in central Florida (Winter Park) moved out to Oregon in 95.
I got back into cycling after buying a cheap mountain bike from Toys' R Us. After proving to myself that I could bike the 14miles (one-way) to work on it, I bought a good Hardtail (03 Specialized Rockhopper) that has since (d)evolved into my commuter bike.

I also own a '06 Rocky Mountain Slayer 50 of which I've had little us for as a major surgery I needed this year (back in June, benign tumor in the left chest) killed my plans to start mountain biking/Freeriding. I had planned on going to Mt Bike Oregon this year but the doc said no! I should be healed up enough to be able to start freeriding again next year.

But the surgery gave me an excuse to by a cruiser (electra RatRod) that I got good use out of, and allowed me to get back to riding only 6 weeks after surgery.
I'm currently shopping for a new road bike as I sold my Trek 1000 to make the final payment on the Slayer.
Besides commuting, I like to ride XC recreationally and want to develop my freeriding skills. I also like to ride a few centuries each year (something I missed in 2007, although I did manage two half centuries on my commuter), hence the desire for a road bike.

Well, that about says it all.

John

Hi John, that's really good news to hear that the tumour is benign. Interesting how it led you to try a different style of riding. I know from personal experience that riding a bike is what keeps me going .

Enjoy your reading here, and don't be shy in posting!

Welcome to BF!
