just another bike nut

Hi everyone!!!! I'm new to the forum but have a life long cycling relationship. Raced in the mid eighties now just ride for fun. Serious nut though, 7 bikes up and running, 4 in parts at various stages of overhaul, and planing to buy another soon. Love them all, old, new doesn't matter. Riding and scuba diving, the only 2 things that make me feel alive. I'm single and self employeed, currently in South Jersey but heading for Texas (more ridable days). See Yeah on the road....

Hi snapdragon, uh...do you like old bikes with downtube shifters? If so, I'll invite you to join us over in Classic & Vintage .

Oh, and lotek, one of the moderators at C & V is a scuba diver, AND he's in Texas. I'd better let him know you're here .

Welcome to BF!

Hi East Hill, Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I like down tube shifters, I have a '64 Viking set up with straight bars for running around the neighborhood, also a late '80's Cannondale set-up with a 9 speed rear end and down tube friction shifters tight fit on the read, delicate touch required for shifting but it works.

Where abouts in Texas you headed to snapdragon? Lots of BF'ers all over the state. Oh, and as a bike nut, you'll fit right in around here.

Hi, just put in an information request on the Texas reg board, Pleas check it out, input would be much appriciated. PS I spent my racing years in Denton with a small, probably defunct shop "Goose Inn"

Snapdragon,

Looks like we share more than just a passion for bikes and scuba! I too lived in South Jersey for a while,
gradutated HS in Willingboro, went to Rutgers before leaving northeast.
So where are you headed down here? If you're going to be in DFW area I'd recommend Adventure
Scuba (formerly Ocean's Window) and RBM as your new favorite hangouts.
Shoot me a PM about the diving, maybe we can get you hooked up with local club/shop etc.

Marty

Another transplanted Jerseyan here -- grew up in Mt. Holly/Lumberton, graduated Rancocas Valley Regional H.S. Rode my no-name orange Kmart 10 speed all over Burlington and Camden counties because it was so much fun (and I didn't need a car). All those flat, fast miles!

Welcome to the board, Snapdragon, and good luck in TX!
