Drew here - I've just recently joined the forum, but failed to introduce myself up front. I'm a bike commuter / recreational rider living in SW Florida in the greater Tampabay area and hope to remain a bike commuter even if I move to a place with more than 1.5 seasons per year. Only advantage I see to it is the weather does allow year round riding done here. 52 now, married with a teen that just wants to stick to anything with a screen rather than actively do something. I typically ride a C-dale R800. but also have an old huffy MTB and a 'bent (sports car, jeep and SUV) the jeep and SUV just don't get a lot of use. Between this R800 and an old one I had, my Cannondales have been on every continent other than antartica. Sorry to say that over the years I've become somewhat of a clydesdale as well.
Unfortunately as a result of getting a bit larger - my blood sugar got out of control and now I've got the pleasure (sic) of stabbing myself several times daily to track what meds I need, etc. And now in additon to riding quite a bit more frequently, I'm now trying to organize others and run charity events supporting the American Diabetes Association. Now I'm looking forward to participating in all kinds of group and charity rides in the area and seeing if I enjoy road biking as a sport as well as a lifestyle and enough to get a another new (more suitable) bike and start doing a Tri now and again with.
