Hello from Hewitt , TX

Hello, I am Brent and I am from Hewitt, TX. I have been riding a cheap road bike for about 2 years now and I finally decided to get serious about it. I just got a new road bike and I am looking forward to putting some nice mileage on it and I look forward to getting alot of good advise on the forum. So again hello to all!!

Brent

I hate to tell about the new bike because I bought from bikes direct and I know many on the forum dislike them. Actually my wife bought the Motobecane Vent Noir for me for christmas to upgrade me from a cheap walmart bike. The new bike came with Shimano 105 rear derailer, Tiagra front derailer, Shimano 9 Speed Cassette 12-25T (27 total gears), FSA crank, VP ultralite clipless pedals, Ritchey seat post, Ritchey ergo handle bars, Vuelta XRP PRO Aero wheels with bladed spokes(look sweet), Tektro BlackChrome DualPull Aluminum brakes, Shimano 4400 STI (Integrated Brake and Shift levers), Cane Creek Threadless Sealed Bearing headset, and Kinesis Carbon Fiber front fork. I am very happy with the bike and I actually went on my first ride with it today. It is 12lbs lighter than my old bike and seems very responsive. The shifters were smooth as silk and the brakes worked really good. I was able to learn about bike maintenance from my old bike since I was constantly workin on it so I decided the bikes direct route was for me since I could assemble and tune myself and I could get a bike with good components for a fraction of the price of what my LBS could get me.
So there you go. I guess the bashing is about to begin!

Hi Brent, nothing wrong with a BD bike, and you went in knowing that you would have to assemble the bike yourself (which is really the biggest problem with buying a bike over the internet). You got a quality bike, and you're enjoying the ride, so never mind the scoffers and flamers . Oh, and don't forget to visit the regional forums and say hi to the rest of the Texans...

Welcome to BF!

East Hill
