Hello from Chicagoland!

I'm a Cat. 4 (almost 3!)/masters 35+ racer from Chicago area. Originally from SF Bay Area.
I own a 1986 Raleigh Grand Prix, a 2006 Raleigh Team, and a 2005ish Raleigh Team Cross cyclocross bike.
Yes, other stuff too, not worthwhile to mention here!
I think winter in the Midwest is waaayyy too long!!

Hey raleighrider!

Chicago winters can be brutal so prepare yourself. Riding through a Chicago winter can be fun as well. I've ridden these past two winters and let me tell you... it gets cold so make sure to layer. Reading that you're a Cat 4 (almost 3) you should already have the gear you need. One more thing, be careful on our lakefront path during the winter for there can be patches of ice in some spots. I've began to ramble so I'll close it with this:

WELCOME TO BIKE FORUMS!

A fellow Chicagoan,

Hello raleighrider, the folks over at Classic & Vintage would appreciate a gander at your Grand Prix when you have a moment or two to take photos...

Don't think of the winter as too long, think of this season as an opportunity to catch up on the goings on here at BF .

Welcome to BF!

hellooo!

Ugh, we're out in the nw suburbs.. (and been in Chicagoland for 10 years +) But having just returned from CA, I guess I had that on my mind!
What kind of bike is that in the little avatar? I used to have a Specialized Allez (old skool 1984!) that looked like that!
Now I have rambled too much!

RR

p.s. I guess there will be two authorities on slacking here! : )

photos

will post when i return to CA to tidy it up (and just as soon as I score a new digital camera!)
It's from the elusive 1986 model year, and nobody seems to have a catalog around!
It's the 'sea foam green' model with mauvish (not pink!!) accents.. all Shimano 105 when it was stock.
Got rid of the ghastly BioPace rings first thing! I picked it up over Christmas in CA.. and now it sits in my sister's basement in Oakland.. (back in the 'hood!) But.. I promise to fly out several times in 2008 to dial it in!!! It was love at first sight I tell you.. love at first sight!!!! Reynolds 531.. niice!
