Ran across this forum while looking for info on MTB shoes. I am 73 years old and started biking again after a quad bypass in April. Hadn't biked in over 30 years and am amazed at how things have changed. Did a lot of research on the internet before I bought a Cannondale Adventure 4, which I love. Presently looking into a sneaker-like MTB shoe (Shimano) and double sided MTB pedals. Any advice would certainly be welcomed.

- welcome back to riding! i did the same several years ago...

- just keep in mind that 'sneaker like' does not necessarily mean 'walkable'...

- i tried 661s, but i really like Pricepoint's Sette Rivals, which have a stiffer sole...

- nothing wrong with inexpensive SPDs from Nashbar, but a lot of folks seem to like Crank Bros. candies...

Hi scottbiker73, it's so good to see that you have not lost your capacity for enjoying life even after a quad bypass ! And mountain biking, no less! Way cool....

Where are you located, by the way? Don't forget to check out the regional forums.

Welcome to BF, and many, many more years of happy riding!

I'm 63 and hope I'm still riding at 73.
Take a look at Lake MX60 or MX101 shoes and Candy or Smarty pedals.
The shoes are comfortable for walking and the pedals are super easy to clip into and out of.
